About Mekenzie Smith, MS, RDN, LDN

Earlier this year, Mekenzie Smith, MS, RDN, LDN joined my practice. Mekenzie has been building her outpatient practice while also working at Walden Behavioral Care in their inpatient unit for eating disorders. She not only brings her expertise to my practice, but clients appreciate her counseling and guidance on their journeys. More about Mekenzie below!

Mekenzie Smith is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist who is passionate about guiding others to find a balanced, healthy, and positive relationship with food. Mekenzie received her Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition and Dietetics at the University of Delaware and her Master’s degree in Nutritional Sciences at Boston University. 

She has dedicated six years of her education to understanding the science and research in nutrition. Mekenzie pursued this career path with the ultimate goal of helping others lead happier, healthier lives.

Mekenzie currently works as an Inpatient Dietitian at Walden Behavioral Care, providing the highest level of eating disorder care. That position has provided her with important experience engaging with diverse patient populations and understanding the deep complexities of eating disorders. Working in the eating disorder field heightened her awareness of the extreme impact food can have on one’s life. 

One of her primary goals is to help clients find peace with food. However, she understands that it’s not only about food and believes in a holistic approach that encompasses body image work, healthy sleep habits, movement, mindfulness and stress reduction strategies.

Mekenzie realizes finding peace with food also involves sorting through the stressors and confusion in today’s food and wellness environment. She recognizes that the power of media, marketing, and influencers is strong. Mekenzie prides herself on following an evidence-based practice that explains the science and truth behind diet trends, cleanses, exercise fads, etc. 

She uses scientific evidence to determine the best information and guidance for clients. Ultimately, Mekenzie’s priority is to work with you and guide you on your journey to a happier, healthier life. In her free time, you will find Mekenzie taking walks in nature, trying new workout classes, eating at her favorite restaurants, and experimenting with new recipes. Mekenzie strives to practice what she preaches and lives a balanced life that includes nutritious and delicious foods, joyful movement, and time to engage in activities that bring her joy.
